How does virtual cardiology work?

It’s no secret there’s a shortage of cardiologists nationwide. In most cities, there’s a 3-6 month wait time to be seen as a new patient, and even follow-ups for medication management don’t happen as quickly as they should, resulting in people with poorly managed hypertension or cholesterol, or not being on the right heart failure medications. However, in some areas of the country, the wait may be significantly longer – and could even approach a year.

We believe that almost all cardiology problems – short of performing a procedure – can be addressed remotely via telehealth. We can ask detailed questions of patients, review past data, and order diagnostic testing, such as lab tests, stress tests, or echocardiograms, in any city where we have a medical license. Visits tend to be very efficient, without the delays caused by driving, parking, or waiting for a room to become available. After that, we find the best location in your area that can perform the necessary test – we have, in fact, screened many of these beforehand. Once the test results come back, we have a chance to review them with you and then decide together on the next steps.
